Tad Williams Last King Of Osten Ard – My personal wait for Tad Williams’ new Osten Ard novel, The Witchwood Crown, is finally over, thanks to my friend John Dee, who sent me a copy to send him . I’m pausing my goal (as I suspected I would) to read the Malazan Book of the Fallen series directly to read it. It was a good stop, as I just finished reading the fifth book in Steve Erickson’s series (and it’s a very good series, highly recommended).

The Last King of Osten Ard series (of which this is the first) takes place thirty years after the original Memory, Sorrow, and Thorn series. As readers, we all have preconceived notions about what characters have been and will become. So there’s always the question of what happened to the characters in this series… who died, who lived, who changed.

The original Trinity maps, drawn by Williams himself, show the Austen Ord lands in great detail. For the Last Trilogy of Kings, Isaac Stewart produced the maps.

One of the main reasons I started writing fantasy stories. . . The work of Ted Williams is an essential part of any science fiction and fantasy library.

Should You Read The Dragonbone Chair By Tad Williams?

Ground breaking. . . Changed the way people think about the genre and paved the way for so many modern fantasy genres, including mine.

This is a perfect epic fantasy. . . Williams’ enormous storytelling skills are on full display here. Not just worth reading – an instant fantasy classic.

The Witchwood Crown is very well written, and the author clearly knows how to handle such a big story without sacrificing it for someone else. . . Would definitely recommend it to readers of epics like A Game of Thrones and The Wheel of Time.

Williams’ prose, characterization, and world-building are, as always, top-notch, and Austen Ord’s return is smooth. . . Williams brings to The Witchwood Crown an aged and deep writing style that gave the original trilogy its melancholy character, for those of us who grew up in that world – and have grow old – create a beautiful feeling for
