Games Like World Of Warcraft But Free – The term “WoW Clone” is used a lot these days. While it may not be fair to label any sport as part of another sport, that is the reality we live in. World of Warcraft is the biggest and most popular game in the world, and as the old saying goes, “If you can’t beat ’em, flip ’em” or something like that.
That being said, just because a game shares a lot of similarities with the biggest game in the genre, doesn’t mean you should automatically write off the game. Wow you do a lot of things well, it’s good to flip when it matters most. With WoW just turning 10 years old and the release of Draenor just around the corner, WoW fever has been high for a long time. Therefore, this list is not a list of the games that best represent the WoW experience, but rather a list of the best games that can be considered alternatives to WoW.
Games Like World Of Warcraft But Free
This is probably the biggest expansion in the list, as it doesn’t share much with WoW from the ground level. Graphically, it looks very different, and its focus on various PvP modes is very different from WoW’s heavy emphasis on PvE. It’s one of many games from Perfect World International, a major force in the free-to-play MMO market, but like their other games, it’s based on a Western fantasy structure rather than an Eastern approach.

Wasteland is a great modern option because you can access it on Steam, the biggest video game platform (basically, it should be a rule that all games have to be on Steam. Let me know when you get to it, Valve.) in general, of course. If you’re looking for a decent game, lots of races and classes, and a general free-to-play universe option to play with WoW, you could do a lot worse.
Now, 4Story on the other hand, and every other game on this list, could easily be mistaken for a passerby. I could be wrong, but this sounds like one of those games you see advertised on Facebook with the headline “Play a game like WOW today!” It’s very quest driven, very similar in appearance and the gameplay is almost identical.
Instead of focusing on raids and other major PvE content, 4Story builds itself to take part in PvP and kingdom battles, with a three-stage game system. However, like WoW, factions are only divided by name, not racial or class-based boundaries. Plus, the in-game assistant strategy lets you treat your class as a high-level demo, which is a great way to test how well you’re doing when you get there yourself.

World Of Kings: Like World Of Warcraft, But On Android
Tournaments, tons of new PvE content, and flying mounts surprisingly make the game feel more WoW. Algono’s biggest selling point, however, is something that doesn’t even happen in-game. Once you’re out there, there’s a “learning” system that allows you to train the progression of certain characters.
If you take the art style of WoW and add some serious sci-fi elements, you get Allods on the Internet. A lot of the monster design, story elements, world building and exploration (albeit extremely repetitive and massive) are top notch, and there was a lot of excitement in this game even before it was released. Also, it is important to note that this game has two parts.
One of the unique features you’ll see in Aladdus harkens back to the sci-fi that the game portrays: ships. Of course, you gain the ability to build ships and navigate the vast magical realm known as the ‘Astral’. The vast array of playable units helps set this game apart from other free-to-play WoW clones currently littering the internet.
If you Google “best WoW clone” or “free to play WoW,” you’ll likely see Runes of Magic at the top of many lists, and for good reason. I personally followed this game closely in its beta phase and have followed it for years. More than any other game, this is the free version of World of Warcraft, with its unique combinations.
World Of Warcraft Was A Defining Game Of Its Generation
For one, Rom has a great multi-class system that allows each character to take two different classes. And with a total of 10 different classes and 3 different races to choose from, the variety and amount of customization is amazing. There are plenty of dungeon runs and raids to take part in, as well as some great open PvP environments. Additionally, decent player houses are hard to come by in most free games, but are very powerful in ROM. So if you see past the obvious WoW influence, Runes of Magic is easily one of the best free-to-play games out there, WoW-inspired or otherwise.
Pay-to-play subscription games aren’t for everyone. Maybe you don’t have time to invest in that commitment, maybe you don’t want to pay that much every year, or maybe there’s nothing special about you. Zemi Interactive’s 4Story, also known as Gates of Andaron, is another free-to-play Korean MMORPG that takes its art style from Ward World. Launched in Western markets in 2008, 4Story, like Runes of Magic, was quickly called a WoW clone. It wasn’t as successful as Runes of Magic, but it’s still used today, so it’s doing something right.
Allods Online was developed by the Russian studio Allods Group and launched in Western markets in 2010. The game had a reasonable budget of twelve million dollars and was launched with initial success. It was available through gPotato, but is now available worldwide through My.com. Available online Still in use since 2015, but the Allods team is now focusing on the Sci-Fi/Fantasy MMORPG hybrid Skyforge.
Unlike the other games on this list, Alganon originally started out as a subscription-based MMORPG, which turned out to be a scary proposition as the game was very similar to World of Warca. Why pay for a WoW clone when you can play the real thing? Alganon was later released as free-to-play, but its player base quickly declined after its initial release in 2009.
This is probably the most popular MMORPG on this list, but everything from the look of the game to the sounds and icons is heavily copied from World of Warcraft. In fact, the game’s PvP battlefields are direct clones of popular WoW battlefields like Arathi Basin. The core game is very polished and has a lot of content. The game is developed by Duoi Networks, a Chinese game developer.
